"Earlier today, I announced my retirement after more than 40 years of public service. I honestly do not know of anyone more qualified or better able to continue serving the needs of Arizona and the Second Congressional District than Lisa Atkins.

"Lisa has worked side by side with me for many years, and I have relied upon her knowledge, judgment and understanding of the issues important to the people of Arizona.

"While freshman Members of Congress spend most of their first term just trying to figure out how Washington works, Lisa has the experience necessary to be an effective Member of Congress from the very first day. She has demonstrated her dedication to the needs and concerns of our District.
